Certificate Course in Urban Integrated Pest Management (UIPM)

A Curriculum Development Workshop was held jointly with representatives of the pest management industry, specialists and officials of NIPHM and Joint Secretary - Agriculture on 28-29 June 2010 at the National Institute of Plant Health Management (NIPHM), (formerly NPPTI), Hyderabad. IPCA had deputed a team of representatives who have actively participated right from the deliberations to the finalisation of the course curriculum.

As a result of the recommendations emanating from this workshop, IPCA is pleased announce that the Certificate Course in Urban Integrated Pest Management, is now being organised regularly at NIPHM. This is a 15 day residential training course meant for managerial/supervisory level staff and course fees include boarding and lodging at the Institute premises.

Members will be aware that the Govt. of India, Ministry of Agriculture, has, in the Pesticides Management Bill 2008, proposed a mandatory licence for all commercial pest control operations. It is intended that the above course will not only fulfill the necessary qualification criteria for such a licence but also enable pest management professionals to upgrade/update their skills and knowledge at the same time.
